WHAT’S IN MY HEART?

SCRIPTURE:  “And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you[a] are the temple of the living God. As God has said: ‘I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people.’ 17 Therefore ‘Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you.” 2 Corinthians 6:15-17
A heart idol is anything or anyone that I have established or surrendered to that preeminent place that belongs to God. Any person or anything that I have surrendered preeminence to, that’s an idol.  Ezekiel 14:3 tells us that “men have set up their idols in their hearts.” Let me tell you, Idols are established by you. You can’t blame anyone if you have an idol. If a person or thing has become your idol, you let them.  It is like us to run away from God to find other resolutions from other deities.

I hope that you see that there is an issue in the heart of believers.  There are many people who go through the outward functions of doing God stuff or Christian stuff or church stuff yet in their hearts they have erected these idols, these things that we inwardly worship that take the place of God in our lives.

Listen my friend, I want you to examine your heart and be for real with God as to whether He has your highest allegiance and your highest loyalty.

Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for the truth of Your Word. We have It as our foundation, our anchor, and a steadfast testimony of who You are and what You have done. Your Word has been established forever and we have strong consolation in it because it is impossible for You to lie. From the beginning you told us not to worship any other Gods before You, because You knew that our tendency is to worship. You created us to worship You.  You told us that you seek worshippers and they that worship, must worship You in spirit and in truth. Forgive us, Jesus. Forgive us when we are drawn away and enticed and give Your worship to those lesser things. It is in the precious name of  Jesus that I pray, Amen!

My oh my. Sometimes that's a daily heart examination. You really have to slow down, do your self assessment, then repent!
