TROUBLES I HAVE FACED, BUT GOD…Anxiety!

We close out the month of June with Devotionals written by our GBFC Youth. We pray your hearts were encouraged by our writers and their courage. This is only a snippet of what our Lord Jesus Christ is working in the hearts of our youth. May the Word of God and their devotional continue to bless you!

SCRIPTURE: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

One of the major challenges I have faced is social anxiety. Many people just think I’m shy, but I have extreme anxiety when talking to people I do not know. I spoke to my sisters about my anxiety and they gave me a verse to help me in these times of anxiousness. The verse is Philippians 4:6-7 and it has helped me a lot with feelings of anxiety. I still have moments where I am too anxious to do certain things, like ordering food at the counter at a fast food restaurant, enquiring about a job over the phone, but it has gotten a lot better thanks to my sister, this verse, and God.

PRAYER: Dear Lord please help me in times where I have feelings of anxiety. Amen.

Thank God that he is with us to guide and comfort us. I often remind myself God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power and love and of a sound mind. Thanking God for your strength Sis Karis. Love you.

Thank you sister for sharing this. We all have those moments of anxiety, and life can bring upon us fearful circumstances. But, much as you have been discovering, yielding ourselves to His word helps to keep our emotions in check, and through patient prayer we may discover an aspect of God's care which assures us, and delivers us from the trouble. In this, faith is made stronger.
