WHAT GOD HAS SHOWN ME: I Am a Daughter of God
June will feature Devotionals written by our GBFC Youth. It is good to read godly inspiration from our youth. Be encouraged by God's Word working in the hearts of our young people.
SCRIPTURE: “For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, more height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39
What I know from last year is that when I thought I was being highly productive, I was not. I am not what I created with my hands. I am not my music, I am not my craft, I am not how much homework I did, I am not my GPA. I am a child of God first, but I lost sight of that. I thought I was all the things that I did and tried to add things to my name by my own hands. When I took all of that away, sometimes I would cry at night and ask myself “without any of this…what am I?” I questioned my worth and compared it to others whom I thought were doing “more” than me. The Lord knows whose journey is whose and I cannot live someone else’s journey. I now know that I am not any of those things that man may ascribe to me, and I am none of the things that I try to ascribe to myself. What I am is a Daughter of God and that is something that will never change by my performance. I know that I am unconditionally loved.
PRAYER: Lord, forgive me of the times when I thought I could add an inch to my own stature. I know that all I am and all I will achieve will be through You and by Your grace. Please help me to stay confident in my identity as one of Your daughters. Guide all those who are struggling to understand who they are in life. Let them turn to You and find comfort in Your embrace. In Jesus’s name I pray, Amen.
