Remembering Our Fallen Soldiers-Giving Thanks for Those Who have Served
SCRIPTURE: “You therefore must endure[a] hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4 No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.” 2 Timothy 2:3-4
Today as you have opportunity to celebrate Memorial Day take a moment and thank God for those who have died in the line of service to our country. They indeed endured hardship. They indeed considered not their own well-being but the well-being of others. “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” John 15:13 Thank God for their sacrifice. Thank God and pray for the liberties we have because of their sacrifice. Thank God and pray for their families who are still mourning the loss of their sons and daughters. Thank God and pray for the men and women who stand and watch on that rampart in our country and others. Thank God for the soldiers that knew Jesus as Savior and pray that all soldiers will hear and receive the Gospel of Salvation so that one day they too may meet the One who enlisted him as soldier.
PRAYER: Thank You Jesus for Your sovereign protection over this country. Thank You for raising up many men and women who ran into the line of fire and died in service to our country at home and abroad. Their sacrifice reminds us of what You did on the cross for our behalf, thank You, Jesus. Thank You to the families who have also sacrificed sons and daughters, husbands and wives and still mourn their passing to this day. We pray that many of these soldiers and their families knew You as Savior. May You bring them comfort in their grieving, give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. It is in Jesus name we pray, Amen!
