With Whom are You Filled?

SCRIPTURE: “But Peter said, ’Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself?’"  Acts 5:3
It is the demons behind the practice or the pattern of thinking that we have to be concerned about. It’s not what we see, but what’s behind it.  We are in danger of missing the Spirit because we are not looking beyond the flesh. Look at Acts 5:3, Satan did the filling, but the lying was done by Ananias. The word ‘filled’ is the same word we used to be ‘filled’ with the Spirit. It is a word that deals with being dominated. It is a word that deals with being influenced. It is a word that deals with being controlled. Why have you let Satan influence you? Filling means that there was a bombardment. It is not usual for the scripture to tell us that believers lie to the Holy Spirit. Believers do lie to the Holy Spirit, we try to. That’s part of self-deception. We try to justify it. Why have you allowed your heart to be influenced, to be deceived? Why did you accept it? Why did you receive it? Why did you submit to it? Why did you identify with it? Why did you participate with it to lie?  We know that the devil’s a liar, but we’re talking about you! He’s always inciting believers to lie.

PRAYER: Our great God, we confess that we have allowed ourselves to be filled with the deceptions of the enemy and the foolishness of this world.  Like Ananias, we have lied to the Holy Spirit, forgive us Jesus.  We find it troubling that while we are sealed with the guarantee of the purchased possession, the Holy Spirit, yet the enemy infiltrates our thoughts with ideas that are contrary to the Spirit. Oh, purge us with hyssop and we shall be clean, Lord. We don’t want to be double minded believers. We don’t want to be unstable, unbalanced, unreliable believers conforming to this world. You told us to renew our minds and the only way that we can renew our minds is by the reading of Your Word. May we fill our hearts and our minds with the reading of Your Word so that nothing else will have preeminence in us. In Jesus’ name we pray these things, Amen!
