LIKE TOSSING A ONE-SIDED COIN!

SCRIPTURE: “For if anyone is a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in the mirror; for once he has looked at himself and then has gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, this man shall be blessed in what he does, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer” [James 1:23-24]
Seeing oneself clearly takes more than a peek, or a sequence of peeks. We must see ourselves with the eyes of an earnest student, having as well, our textbook wide open. We are called to take the deep dive, and to brave the questions that come, carefully and considerably. This manner of looking is always memorable. If the answer is ‘Yes,’ then what is the question? Can I really, really love GOD with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength? Can I really love others as fully as I love myself and mine? GOD knows. Is ‘the juice’ worth the squeeze? Can I really, really be ‘holy’, as I am called to be? GOD knows. Is ‘the juice’ worth the squeeze? Before either a ‘yes,’ or a ‘no,’ the invitation, whether gently offered or abrasively put, is personal, perfect, and daily.
His word is an ever-patient word. Go deeply, and be “...one who looks intently..,” be one who ‘...abides by it...’ [the perfect law, the law of liberty], and know that blessing will follow upon the trusting that tries. So says the word. Though the mountain we face may be daunting, and the valley overwhelming, He equips the called. He knows the ending, before we think to start. Abiding works best one step at a time... one day at a time. “Surely my soul remembers and is bowed down within me. This I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope. The Lord’s loving kindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning. Great is Thy faithfulness [ Lamentations 3:20-23].”
Upon His great faithfulness, we arise and stand, we witness and minister. We live to give God the glory. FAITH without works is ‘dead ,’ and WORKS without faith is ‘pride.’ Who can conceive of and toss either one-sided coin? “But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may observe it” [Deuteronomy 30:14]. So now, be believing, go, and do.
PRAYER: As You have kept me intentionally, Lord, so then is my ‘now,’ and my future by design and intent, kept. I pray to step well into it. Have me wise, and having such, come, let it all count as praise... let my holiness be loving, and my compassion righteous as I don the daily garments of peace. Thank You Lord. Amen.
