Once Dead, Now Alive!

Scripture: “And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, 3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.” Ephesians 2:1-3
The Gentile lifestyle is the life we were saved out of, the life where we were dominated by the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. That was the domination of the old life. There’s supposed to be Someone in our lives now who interrupts that. Unchecked, that same pattern can dominate us.  Ephesians 2:1-3, that’s what we were, that’s the Gentile life. That’s the old life, but we’ve been saved from the old life. It is easy, if we are not careful, to begin to justify those old regulators, to give the old regulators a place of authority in the new life.

Prayer:
Most gracious heavenly Father, You said that if any man be in Christ He is a new creation. Help us to appropriate and appreciate the newness of being in You, even if we have been saved for days or decades. Your purpose for bringing us out of darkness into Your marvelous light was to bring glory to Your name, that we would be sons and daughters accepted in the Beloved! Now that we are in Christ, we find in our walk with Jesus that there are times when our flesh yearns to visit the familiar vices of old. Oh, Father through Your Holy Spirit speak to our hearts that we may recognize that we are Your purchased possession and that our mind, body, soul, and spirit are under new ownership to serve the Lord Jesus, Christ. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Amen🙏🏽 Search me, O God, and know my heart: Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting. 🙏🏽 Psalm 139:23-24
