Saved from What?

Scripture: “17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. 18 ‘He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.’ 36 He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” John 3:17-21, 36
The message of salvation. The question is “Saved from what?” We want to get people saved and tell people that you need to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved, but the question is, “Saved from what?” You need to know what waits on you for saying “No.”  I need to tell you the truth so that you do not want to say ”No.” You see, nobody wants to perish when they understand what perishing is. When was the last time you told somebody that if you do not believe on the Lord Jesus Christ that you are going to perish? You are going to be destroyed. You are going to be under the wrath of God. You are going to have the condemnation of God upon you. You are going to be eternally separated from God. No, we give them the good side, and we are supposed to!  Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved…Saved from what?  The wrath of God!

Prayer: Most gracious God and our eternal Father, whether we like it or not, all of us are destined to die and then face the judgement. Those who are saved know their eternal destination and everlasting life with Jesus. Help us to share Your truths so that the unsaved will understand what the finality of eternal death and damnation means. That there is no returning from hell. That there are no prayers/petitions on their behalf to release them from the consequences of not accepting Christ as Savior.  Lord, open the eyes and the hearts of the unsaved so that understanding enters, grace prevails, and souls are saved from the eternal pit of hell and the eternal wrath of God unto the sons of disobedience.

Amen. It is impossible to handle a one-sided coin. When God speaks, He brings to us both the messages of Love and Holiness. The absence of either diminishes the other, and negates the full gospel message, which when taken wholly, wholly saves. Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift.
