The Wayward and The Obedient

Scripture: “In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother . 11 For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another,” 1 John 3:10-11
There are only two kinds of people in the world-His children and those that are not. Though God has children, He has some children that are wayward and some that are obedient. The reality of our lives probably is that we fluctuate in the ebb and the flow of our Christian walk from being wayward and obedient. We like to tone down the “wayward” and we should certainly have a life that tones down the “wayward.” In fact, we should be more obedient than wayward. To deny that there is ever a situation of waywardness would probably make most of us liars. God deals with His wayward child to produce repentance to do right. Likewise, God confronts the wicked unbeliever with the need to repent to do right. God is always encountering some resistance, as much as we like not to admit it, as He seeks dominance and fellowship. He often encounters some resistance, because He seems to be always stretching us and asking us for more than our comfortable flesh existence wants. Are you going to be truthful about that?
Prayer: Jesus, you reached into time and saved me. Now as I walk with You I see my tendency to drift into waywardness. Forgive me for drifting and my delayed obedience. I admit that You confront me to do what is right and sometimes it seems impossible. Impossible to love, impossible to forgive, impossible to wait. Your Word reminds me that with You, all things are possible. As Your child You have saved me for a good work. I need Your help to walk in that good work You have prepared for me. Yes, Jesus, I need your help to be obedient to do Your will!

Devotionals like these always remind us that we do have that “other side!” Help me Lord to have that singular focus on You! Thanks Pas. C.
Amen! Wayward is, as wayward does [and thinks, and feels, and dreams]... Holy Spirit take control, and quicken us toward the right appetites to embrace, and to chase the godly way.
Amen! This devotional reminds me of 2 Chron. 16:9–The eyes of the Lord run to and fro. ..to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.”
Amen!
