The Incomparable Christ
SCRIPTURE: “Yours, O LORD, is the greatness, the power and the glory, the victory and the majesty; for all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours…” 1 Chronicles 29:11 {NKJV}
How do you define “greatness?” One online definition states that it’s “the quality of being great,
distinguished, or eminent.” [Oxford Dictionary] I recently scanned an online article in which the name of our inimitable Lord and Savior—the King of kings, and Lord of lords, the God-Man Jesus Christ— was listed amongst others who’ve been deemed “great.” After listing several individuals so described, the article highlighted a new yardstick for assessing an entire company’s greatness; summarily it sounded very similar to what Christ followers have been told since the Holy Bible was first translated into English by Bible scholar William Tyndale in the 16 th century (around 1525). Rather than measuring greatness exclusively by one’s net monetary worth, as is commonly done today—in both secular and “religious” circles, incidentally, the article declared that, “maybe a better measure of greatness….is the number of lives you enrich.” [Source: Redefining How We Measure Greatness” by Fred Reichheld, online article dated [8.13.18]
If you’ve been born again, by a personal belief in the gospel of Jesus Christ, you’ve been persuaded beyond all doubt that the greatness of Jesus Christ excels them all, be they renowned individuals, corporate CEOs, or cubicle occupants of trillion-dollar organizations. Faith in what the Christ has done for every truly believing soul transcends life in this world!! HALLELUIAH!!!
PRAYER: O, heavenly Father, thank You for Your grace which enables me to sing, “On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand—all other ground is sinking sand; all other ground is sinking sand!” AMEN!
