Does He Know You?

SCRIPTURE:  Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal:  “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.”  2 Timothy 2:19 (NKJV)
Identity fraud is a rampant problem in today’s hyper-technological climate! One must be saavy about protecting one’s p.i.i. (personal identifying information).  The cruel barrage of problems visited upon the unwary user of the Internet, cell phones, and other devices inspires  a fresh appreciation of God’s unmistakable knowledge of those who are His! (Nahum 1:7; 2 Tim. 2:19)  A more significant question—the answer to which has eternal repercussions-- is will the Lord recognize you by His divine identifier—the blood of Jesus Christ?  Hebrews 9:22 removes all other would-be qualifiers!

I recently upgraded my cell phone, and my favorite “inhouse techie” (my hubby) told me that before I begin using it in earnest, I’d have to set up “face recognition.”  No one wants to have to enter their passcode every time they pick up their cell phone.  Well—inasmuch as it was the first full day of my new phone, after he’d transferred my stored data from the old phone to its replacement, my husband stopped me.  I hadn’t been up more than fifteen minutes, hadn’t been to “hair and makeup,” and was still in my jammies.  As my husband observed me searching out “settings” in order to establish  facial recognition, he stopped me: ‘Uh, Niecey, that’s not the face you want your phone to recognize, is it?  We both let loose our first guffaw of the day with that shared consensus!

Soon afterwards, I prepared to adjust the image that I wanted my cellphone to recognize. (Later on, he averred that the phone wouldn’t really be “stumped” when I sought to use it with my “au naturale” face).  Still, beloved reader, the holy God of heaven is not at all impressed, as some human beings may be, with our church membership/ attendance, our record of good works, or even our “sweet” reputation—aka, our ”public face.”  Our holy God is not impressed by our address or our charitable donations—I could continue with a litany of surface characteristics that are highly esteemed by people who’re NOT investigating the Scriptures for themselves.  This same God is primarily seeking one attribute above all others:  the presence of His Son indwelling our heart and life through faith in His atoning death for my sin and yours at Calvary (Romans 8:8, 9)!  If a man-made technological gadget can require facial recognition to facilitate its owner’s use of the same, why do so many refute the requirement of the omniscient God of heaven to establish a DIVINELY DISTINCTIVE prerequisite which authenticates our relationship with Him?

PRAYER:  Dear Father, we thank You that Jesus Christ is our Advocate and Great High Priest, and that we have not been left in the dark about how we can know and be known by You.  Your name be exalted!  Amen!
