Roots Growing Deeper

SCRIPTURE: “…His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue...” 2 Peter 1:2, 3 (NKJV)
I forgot to follow up on caring for the purple salvias that we’d planted in front of our home this past spring. I was to have removed the leaves and other fallen debris from around those perennials, since a period of dormancy is approaching with the coming winter. Since it rained overnight, the ground is soaked today, squelching my brief gardening plans. It may be that the roots of those now-sagging salvias should not at all be pulled up and placed elsewhere before next spring. Aren’t you glad that God knows exactly the length and precise degree of intensity that should characterize each of our individual growing seasons? He never forgets what our next set of needs are, and He faithfully and timely provides for the same.

He knows when we are in the midst of sorrow. He understands what we need the most at such times. He understands how we feel when others may reject or be apathetic toward us. He understands our rejoicing when we’re having a mountaintop experience; He completely understands when we find ourselves mired occasionally in a valley of the doldrums, or even full-blown depression. He knows and understands it all, seeing as how He also partook of flesh and blood and entered into the totality of the human experience—but without any sin--all for the purpose of paying our sin debt! (Heb. 2:14) Through death, Jesus forevermore broke Satan’s power to drag us down along with him and a third of the rebelling angelic host into that place of eternal torment, called Hell. (Rev. 20:14, 15)

I stand in perpetual awe and amazement at the Savior’s tremendous love, devotion, and unending compassion! (Lamentations 3:22; Isaiah 40:28, 29) Given His divine promises, how can anyone remain uninspired or unmotivated to grow the roots of their faith and love for Jesus Christ deeper with each passing season of life?

PRAYER: Precious Abba, how increasingly thankful we are for the testimony You have given us about the fact of Your omnipotence, omniscience, and omnipresence! There is nothing on the horizon of our lives of which You are unaware and cannot by Your grace prepare us in due time. You only require humble obedience and a steadfast willingness to seek Your face in every life season. Bless Your holy and faithful Name! Amen!

He loved us before the foundation of the world. What a refreshing message.
