Christ Formed in You
Scripture: Galatians 4:19 - My little children, for whom I labor in birth again until Christ is formed in you.
The Holy Spirit has come to indwell all who have believed on the Lord Jesus Christ as personal savior. His will and work in us is not just to reveal knowledge about Christ to us, but to reveal Christ through us in CONDUCT, CHARACTER, and COMMUNICATION. Our devotional passage reminds us that life as a Christian is to have Christ progressively formed in us so that our lives will express Him with our lips as well as our lifestyles. The theological term that we use to describe this miraculous work in us is sanctification. We are those whom the Holy Spirit is working in to bring about the full realization of the presence and experience of the life of Christ in us and through us for a witness to the world/sphere in which we live daily.
Christ is seen in the world today through those whom He indwells and controls. When the true nature of Christ is in us, it should result in a progressively inward change that will be seen in outward attitude and action that is expected by God in a believer. The Christian life is not a matter of external conformity without internal transformation. We must respect the fact that if our salvation through faith in Christ is real, then it will affect a real change in our style of CHARACTER (spiritual personality), our CONDUCT (behavior), and our COMMUNICATION (style of talking). It is the ultimate revelation of II Corinthians 5:17, “therefore if any man be in Christ he is a new creation, old things are passed away and behold all things are becoming new.” The total being of a true Christian should reveal the evidence of the indwelling presence of Christ.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I realize that it is a privilege to have the life of Christ in me. I do want Christ to be seen through my life, but I admit that I am not mindful of that every day. Please forgive me. I will purpose to yield myself that the light of Christ can be seen in this life I have been given to live. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen.
