Trusting the Father

Scripture:  Proverbs 3:5-6 - Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

I remember when I invited Jesus Christ into my life in August of 1978!  That was the best day of my life!  I’m so grateful that the Lord has unconditional love for me, and my personal relationship with the Lord will last forever! I trust in my Heavenly Father, and He protects, guides, and encourages me – and He gives me victory over sins as I yield to Him because of the Holy Spirit within me.   In this Christian life, it is all about acknowledging Him, and allowing Him to direct our path. He is completely trustworthy.  He has promised that He will never leave or forsake me!  Hebrews 13:5  says “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”

If you had or have an earthly father who trusted the Lord and modeled  Christlike life, it will be easier for you to trust in your heavenly Father.  Even if your earthly father failed you or if you never knew your earthly father, you can still choose to trust God through Jesus Christ. Psalms 27:10 says “When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.” When we read/study God’s word, pray and worship in our darkest times, our faith in God will be strengthened.  Jeremiah 17:14 says “Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.”  We will see things with a new perspective.

When people have betrayed us, we have to still forgive them as Christ has forgiven us.  Then we will have to have wisdom on how to relate to those people who have betrayed us, but we have to forgive them as Christ has forgiven us.  Proverbs 4:23 says “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”  There is a difference in guarding your heart and having an imprisoned heart.

When we own up to our sins/mistakes, they won’t own/hinder our lives.  We won’t be imprisoned or have lack of peace in our lives.  We have to choose to be free and not live in bondage when it comes to forgiving others. We have to trust and obey the Lord – for there is no other way to be happy/content in Jesus – but to trust and obey – as the hymns says.

Prayer:  Dear Heavenly Father:  Help me to be so in tuned with You and/or acknowledge You, that the steps I take in life will be as You guide me.  Help me not to lean on my own understanding.  I trust You Father.  You have never failed me.  All this I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
