Heart Flow

Scripture:  Proverbs 4:23 NKJV) - Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.

Matthew 6:21 NKJV - For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

You ever heard the term GIGO – garbage in, garbage out? It simply means what you put in, you get out. Now it may come out in a different form but it comes out. Think about putting a piece of meat through a grinder – the meat comes out, but it’s in a different form. Well, it’s the same way with our hearts. What we put in – positive or negative – comes out. If you feed your heart and soul with good things, good things will come out; the same is true about the opposite, the negative. It seems like such a simple principle, but we complicate it every single day! We see, hear, think and do things that don’t line up with God’s Word and His plan for our lives. And then wonder why we walk around with ungrateful attitudes, negative spirits and jacked up hearts – it’s in us! And it’s gonna come out one way or another.

The scriptures tell us that our heart is the center of our being, the place where things flow from. It all starts in our minds; one thought, good or not so good. That one thought is like a seed that’s planted and takes root in our hearts. Remember before you were saved – family, friends and even sometimes strangers would tell you about Jesus and His undeniable love for you. Some of us had to hear the Gospel more than once before we believed. But if you think about that moment, when you did believe, you believed in your heart! The belief had to take root in your heart. Your heart was the determining factor!

What if we filled our hearts with worship? What if we practiced praising our Savior, ALL THE DAY LONG?!?! I mean, this IS our story, this IS our song … right?? Think about it – praising and worshiping Him just for Who He is! Uninterrupted, pure worship! I wonder what would flow from our hearts if we made it a point to worship Him in thought, word and deed … instead of filling our hearts with all that other stuff. Definitely something to think about, isn’t it?

Prayer: Father, I know I can do better. Every day You allow me to open my eyes and experience Your new mercies is another day to get it right. Even in the midst of daily ups and downs, I have to choose to worship You … in ALL things! In every situation, every circumstance … in ALL things! It will take some time, disciplining my heart and (re)conditioning my mind to be more like You. But nothing is impossible with You, God! With You, I can!! And for that and so much more, I give You praise! In Jesus’ Name we always pray … AMEN!
