What is Written Gives Me Courage

Scripture: Joshua 1:8-9 - This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you[a] shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Lord! It appears like I’m going down the road of destruction
I’m afraid because my choices are outside of your instructions

I’ve spent most of my time considering worldly sights
I’ve spent little time meditating on you day and night

For what I recall, what I think, and what I remember
Most are unguarded considerations outside of Your agenda

I know that if this doesn’t shift or change my days will be stressful
Forfeiting promises that would make me prosperous and successful

I could never say that the Lord wasn’t available or attainable
Yet, if the Lord isn’t the priority, my consequences are unfavorable

So, Lord I shall adhere to your commands for my demands
There’s no reason to be discouraged when matters are in Your hands

Now, I can be strong and courageous based on what is written
The times I struggle are when I am isolated, or You are distant

Therefore, my faith is ignited and persuaded by what I know
Your truth is hidden in my heart, and it goes wherever I go

Prayer:  Thank You Lord for what is written. Without your commands and promises, I would be lost, alone, and or dead. This world, the flesh, and evil can be extremely opposing. But, what is written tells me the Truth. I’m grateful because this gives me strength and courage. Speak to me Father through what is written. Where I am weak, struggling, or vulnerable, You have assured me that you are already there. Thank You Jesus!
