Our Attitude About the Lord’s Return

Scripture:  Titus 2:11-13 – For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; 13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ. 14 Who gave himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

Those who have invited Jesus Christ into their lives should have an attitude of gratitude and regularly praise and thank the Lord for His promise that He will be returning for us!!!  I Thessalonians 4:16-17 says “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”

Just knowing that the Lord will return and that I will be with Him forever is comforting  even though I am  experiencing trials. Also, realizing that one day I will be with the Lord affects the decisions I make on a daily basis.

•We should expectantly look for His return. (Titus 2:13 - Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.)

•He should be our number one priority, and we should look forward to His return. (II Timothy 4:8 -  Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.)

•We should yield to Him completely. (I Thessalonians 5:23 -  And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.)

•We should wait for Him with great conviction and compassion. (Philippians 3:20-21 -  For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ: 21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

Prayer:  Dear Heavenly Father:  Thank You Lord for forgiving me of my sin, and promising that You are returning for me. Thank You for promising that You have prepared a place for me, and that one day I will be with You forever! (John 14:1-6)  I pray that this will affect how I live for You.  All this I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
