Understanding the Assignment

Scripture: Matthew 28:19 - Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

Oftentimes under videos or stories on social media someone may write, “she understood the assignment”. That simple phrase is easily comprehended. It simply means that the person given the task did exactly what was supposed to be done; hence understanding the assignment. As Believers, we have an assignment also. The assignment is quite clear; we are to go and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. There are many ways to do this, but the most effective way is by our lifestyle. Believers should teach Christ; use words when necessary. The life of a believer should be a living testimony of Christ which includes encouraging, uplifting, and leading others. Our lifestyle should be such that others want what we have without even knowing what it is. Our assignment is to make disciples out of all people regardless of nationality, gender, political affiliation, etc. and then they should be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, Your Word tells us to witness to others. It tells us to speak to each other in psalms and hymns. We should look and act more like You as we grow in Christ. Lord, You said if we truly love You, we would feed your sheep. The assignment is clear. Thank You, Lord, for trusting us with such an important task. Thank you, Lord, for providing us with the instruction manual that has everything we need to complete the task. Lord, forgive us when we allow fear or laziness to prevent us from completing the assignment. Thank You, Lord, for the many opportunities to redeem ourselves when we fall short of the mark. Lord, thank You for being our perfect example. We should be the change we want to see in others because our assignment is clear. Lord, I thank You for Your Son Jesus the Christ who truly understood the assignment and completed it even unto death for sinners like me. There’s no greater love than that. Lord, we love You, we adore You, and we worship You and thank You immensely for Your grace and mercy. In the name of Jesus, I pray, Amen.
