Hitting Rock Bottom
Scripture: Matthew 7:24-27 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. 26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”
Many of us complain about hitting rock bottom
A multitude of challenges, trials, and problems
Spiritually speaking, this is the best place to be
Resources have run dry, and finally at the end of me
Fooling myself that I’m controlling my life and its pace
Finally, I’m reminded I wasn’t in control in the first place
Resources are thin, and others are unable to support
The consequences are high stakes and too much to afford
Meanwhile, my spiritual obligations are disregarded by far
I was too busy with myself to even consider the things of God
So, once rock bottom hits, we often revert to things of old
Rather than seeking the Lord for renewal, more sin unfolds
In fact, there’ll be pain and suffering when we fall on our faces
Yet, Christ is our comforter during repentance and restoration
So, at our lowest we are often given the chance of one option
Now, we can rejoice for a choice because Christ is the Rock at the bottom
Prayer: Lord, You are the one constant in my life. It doesn’t matter what’s in front of me, You are in control. Forgive me for not making You my priority. Forgive me for living for myself. Thank you for Your mercy and granting me another chance and another chance and another chance…….. Continue to renew my mind and heart. In Jesus name, amen.
