The Precious Blood of Jesus

Scripture: I Peter 1:18-19 – For as much as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; but with the precious blood of Christ, as a lamb without blemish and without spot:
Colossians 1:19-20 - For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; 20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
Peter was an old man when he wrote I Peter 1:18-19a. The blood of Jesus must have become more precious to him as it does for us today! There is power – wonder-working power in the precious blood of the Lamb!
The blood of Jesus is precious to me because it has redeemed me – not only from the evil one, Satan, but also from the curse of the law. The law condemns me, but Christ has satisfied the law. Paul said that God gave Him up freely for us all. Romans 8:32 says “He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up from us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? “ We are not redeemed by corruptible things. Silver and gold could not redeem our souls. Death came into the world by sin, and nothing but the blood could atone for us! Redemption is buying back and setting free. Christ came to set us free! Titus 2:11-14 says “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world, looking for that blessed hope and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ; who gave Himself for us that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.”
Throughout the Bible, blood represents life. The just penalty of human sin against God is death (Romans 6:23). The high priest had to return year after year for animal sacrifices. It was impossible for the blood of bull and goats to take away sin (Hebrews 10:4). Jesus willingly offered Himself (Hebrews 9:14) by a once and for all shedding of His own blood (Hebrews 9:12)!
Daily I praise God for the precious blood of Jesus Christ! When I am overwhelmed, I have to remind myself about all that the Lord has done for me, is doing, and will do in the future! Hallelujah for the precious blood of Jesus Christ, for my salvation, and for being set free!
Prayer: Thank You Lord for saving/redeeming me! Thank You for setting me free! If it were not for You, where would I be? No matter what I go through, please help me to keep my eyes stayed on You. All this I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
