Sharing God’s Word As We Worship

Scripture:  Ephesians 5:19 (NKJV) – “Speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your hearts to the Lord.”
Romans 10:17  - “So then, faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

As we worship the Lord, we hear God’s word proclaimed.  When we hear the word of God, faith is elevated in our hearts.  “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17).  What’s in our hearts, affects what comes out of mouths.  “For the mouth speaks from the overflow of the heart.  A good man produces good things from the storeroom of good, and an evil man produces evil things from his storeroom of evil” (Matthew 12:34-35).  One of the best ways to fill our hearts with words of faith, hope, and love, is to worship the Lord.  (from the Seven Words of Worship book by Mike Harland/Stan Moser)

Speaking to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs reinforces God’s word over and over again.  Worship goes vertically/upward to God and horizontally/outward to others around us.  Worshipping the Lord invites the presence of the Lord, which will encourage us to witness and serve Him.  The woman at the well in John chapter four was in the presence of God Himself.  Being in the presence of the Lord led her to bring the entire village to hear Jesus!  Many believed in Jesus as a result of the woman’s testimony (John 4:39).  Revelation 4:8 speaks of continual worship!  “Each of the four living creatures had six wings; they were covered with eyes around and inside.  Day and night they never stop, saying:  Holy, holy, holy, Lord God, the Almighty, who was, who is, and who is to come”.  We should continually worship the Lord – not just during church services.  We can worship the Lord as we listen to gospel music at home, while singing wherever we go, before/after reading God’s word, and even while doing house chores.  Whether things are going good or bad, let us worship the Lord --  sharing God’s word.  The Lord is truly worthy to be praised/adored!

Prayer:  Dear Heavenly Father, thank You so much for who You are and for what You have done in my life – as I have a personal relationship with You.  Help me to continually worship You and share Your word with others wherever I go.  All this I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
