Lord I'm Angry With You

Scripture: James 1:20 – For the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.
Anger is a strong feeling of annoyance, displeasure or hostility.

Life rarely plays fair. Adults and even some young people find out early that fairness is an illusion. Many times, we go through life trying our best to look like Christ and still life slaps us in the face. When life’s situations arise, even the best Christians gets frustrated, depressed and even angry. Some people may be afraid during their quiet time to tell the Lord “I am angry with you, Lord. You let me down, Lord”. We would never say, “I’m annoyed with you, Lord”. Yet many times we are and we forget that God already knows because He knows our hearts.

Be reminded that David and Job were both angry with God. There were times when life’s situations frustrated them and they told the Lord of their anger with Him. In Psalms 22, David twice expressed his anger toward God, but he was also mindful to be respectful and to give God His due praise despite his anger. God desires our honesty and cares about us genuinely. If He says we should speak truthfully to our neighbor, don’t you think He wants you to also speak truthfully to Him? The Lord tells us to get rid of all bitterness, rage, and anger (Ephesians 4:31),because unchecked anger will ultimately affect your spiritual health and your testimony.

Prayer:  Dear Lord:  Help me to be honest with you. Help me to trust you enough to openly express what’s in my heart -- even when I am angry. Lord, speak to me so that I can learn to check my anger. Remind me Lord that despite what life throws at me, You are Lord over all things, and You are in control of my circumstances. Forgive me Lord for allowing my emotions to grieve You and for representing You poorly because I was angry. Lead me and show me how to be angry and sin not. I thank you Lord for what You will do and have already done; but more than anything, I thank You for Your Son Jesus Christ, who died on the cross for my sins. Amen

Amen Pat. He knows our thoughts afar off. He searches the heart and tests the mind. Nothing we do surprises the Lord. Fess-up children!

Wow! What an honest Devotional! Our attitudes, at times, do show our anger towards God. Thank you Sis. Pat for sharing this truth with us.
