Water Walkers

Scripture:  Matthew 14:22-33 - Immediately Jesus [a]made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He sent the multitudes away. 23 And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there. 24 But the boat was now [b]in the middle of the sea, tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary. 25 Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. 26 And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear. 27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, [c]“Be of good cheer! [d]It is I; do not be afraid.” 28 And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”29 So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw [e]that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”31 And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” 32 And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.33 Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God.”

Yes! I am a believer of the Lord Jesus Christ
Surely, He is and has been the anchor of my life

However, I am guilty of claiming I know Him
Yet, when challenges arise, I neglect to show Him

I talk about His love, His faithfulness, and His goodness
Yet, when faith says, He can, I respond as He wouldn’t

“O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”

When I lost my job, I was discouraged by having a pity party
Did my faith create hope, or did I allow my heart to harden?

When my marriage was tested with multiple problems
Did my faith kick in, or did my pride attempt to solve them?

When my health wasn’t the best from the doctor’s diagnosis
Did my faith generate confidence, or did my fear take over?

“O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”

When my money was low, I had no financial security
Did I continue to pay tithes, or was He no longer my priority

When I’m discouraged, disappointed, depressed, or lonely
Did I fix my eyes on the Lord, or did I waver with issues accordingly?

As I look at my circumstances, who do I see?
How do I have little faith when the Lord is right here with me

Therefore, I should be of good cheer without fear, while seeking Him in order
It’s my mustard seed faith that allows the divine experience to walk on water

Prayer:  Lord, You’ve established Your power and faithfulness. You’ve proven Your love and commitment? Yet, when its time for us to have faith, we are troubled and afraid. If there were no challenges, test, or trials, we would never know You are a lover, healer, or keeper. Thank You Lord for Your mercy! Thank You Lord for Your patience! Moreover, thank You Lord for Your chastening! In the name of Your Son, Amen!
