Not Easy

Scripture: John 16:33 - I have said these things to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.
One morning recently, I woke up with the thought that God never promised anything would be easy. As a 52-year-old woman, I hold many roles; and for some reason I have begun to look for the calm road or the easy one in all areas of life. However, God has made many promises, but making life easy, is not one of them. All of my roles require work and great portions of love, care and greater than that, commitment. The commitment required is most important. God has never said that loving all those in my world would be easy. To be successful in all my roles, there must be an obligation observed. An obligation I must be committed to fulfill. Despite what response I encounter, I am required to show my commitment to my God; He is to be the centrality of focus. Everything I do, I must do out of my love for the Lord Jesus Christ. In our bodies, this huge pill is not easily swallowed. It is not easy to love God and to love all of those He has committed to us. It is not up to us to measure what God considers love. Therefore, we must look to Him. He is the standard and the measurement of what love looks like. When we look at the cross, even Jesus prayed that the cup of dying for the sins of the world would pass by him. He did not want that cup of pain called love. He did not look forward to shedding His precious blood so the world would gain an opportunity to have a relationship with God the Father. He was motivated and compelled by His love for the Father’s will. His very existence was for the Father. He was undeniably all about pleasing His Father. Therefore, He endured the cross.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for how Your Word comforts even in hard truths. Help us to know that all things that You allow work for our good and is part of Your plan to make us look more like Your Son -- The Lord Jesus. In Jesus’ Name - Amen!
