The Fruit of Waiting Revealed

Scripture: Psalms 24:14 (CBS) - Wait for the Lord; be strong; and let your heart be encouraged. Wait on the Lord.

In our society, man is subjected to having to wait. We wait for a delivery of varied kinds. There is a wait for lab results,  a wait for college acceptance, we wait for marriage, the birth of a child, and there was an exhausting, trying wait on election results and the list goes on. Waiting is not easy: and no one likes to be subjected to waiting. Waiting for the Lord is altogether different. When we wait for the Lord: we are waiting for the Lord to act: to deliver out of a situation, to save, to avenge, to answer prayers, to provide for our needs, to renew our strength, to reveal His glory, to do what only God can do (His will). Scripture states that the Lord has a plan, and it is for good, that we may have a future and hope. Beloved, you have to wait for that promise (Jer. 29:11). It is God’s plan to bless His people who calls to Him or seek and pray to Him with all their heart. We ought to do so steadfastly -  worshipping and obeying in our daily walk as He communicate to us through His Word; then, wait for the Lord to provide for our needs joyously and fruitfully.

To know up front that we seek an answer to that which lines up with the Word of God is an important first step. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteous standards. Align yourselves with His truth, promises, and godly counsel. Then wait for the Lord to act in meeting the needs of the righteous.

What can one do to guarantee that waiting will end in this lifetime? The answer is no! Desires long waited for, and/or good news we are waiting to hear – can tempt one to become impatient, discouraged, to worry, and wonder if God cares. According to (Author Linda Green-Women’s Ministry, Ill; 2007), there are things to consider while one wait for the Lord.
While we wait  * Believe that the God who saved you hears your cries (Micah 7:7). *Watch with expectancy but be prepared for the unexpected answer (Ps. 5:3).  *Put your hope in His Word (Ps. 130:5,6). *Trust in the Lord, not your own understanding (Prov. 3:5,6).  *Refrain from fret, anger, and be still and choose patience (Ps.31:7,8)

It is so tempting for us to depend on our own wisdom rather than the wisdom of our Lord. What makes one think that they know what is best?  We follow what is right in our own eyes. Results of waiting reveals where we are placing our trust. It is easy to say we trust God, but our response to delays, frustrations and difficult situations exposes where we are placing our hope.

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, You know when I sit and when I rise. You guide me with Your eyes. I can do nothing without you. You even minister to me while I wait on Your response to my seeking. In Christ, Amen.
