Indescribable Gift

Scripture:  II Corinthians 9:15 - Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable gift.

My siblings and I were so excited about the gifts we would receive for Christmas!  We could barely sleep the night before Christmas.  Our parents allowed us to open our gifts around 6:00 a.m. every Christmas!  After admiring the Christmas tree and other decorations in our house, and hearing the Christmas story from the Bible, we would go to my grandparents’ house.  I had eleven aunts and uncles, and they had between one to five children each.  We ate dinner, exchanged gifts, sang Christmas carols and hymns, and always prayed together!  Our time together was always very memorable.  We had so much fun!    Now, sometimes I have a lot of decorations and a Christmas tree, and sometimes I don’t.  Sometimes I send out Christmas cards, and sometimes I don’t. I love to give family/friends gifts, but I don’t wait until Christmas to do so.   What’s more important to me is to appreciate the best gift ever – the indescribable gift – JESUS CHRIST!!!  Just thinking about how I have a personal relationship with the Lord, brings me joy – despite the trials and challenges I am facing.  Let’s remember to keep our focus on the Lord and not get distracted by the cares of this life.  For many people this time of the year is gloomy and/or discouraging because of the loss of  loved ones, loneliness, or the  lack of employment.  Help me Lord to be of encouragement to someone.  It is good to know that the Lord will never leave us nor forsake us. He loves us so very much!!

L  -  For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in
Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

O – And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the
power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be
born will be called the Son of God. (Luke 1:35)

V  -  The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”
(which means “God with us”)  (Matthew 1:23)

E –  These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye
may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son  of
         God.  (I John 5:13)

Prayer:  Dear Heavenly Father:  Thank you so much for the indescribable gift of Your only begotten Son – Jesus Christ!!!!!!   You bring me joy!!!!!  Help us to keep Christ in Christmas – a time that we can share gifts, but above all, this is a time (and at all times) we can share the gospel of Jesus Christ wherever we go!!!  Also, please help us to encourage those who are discouraged at this time.  In Jesus’ name I pray.  Amen.
