Choosing God’s Path For Your Life

Scripture:  John 10:27-28 - My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.
Proverbs 3:5-6 - Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

So many people think that we work for our salvation, and if we stop working or mess up we lose our salvation.  The truth is we could never earn or lose salvation because it is a free gift from God through having faith in Jesus Christ.  It is all about the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross.  Isaiah 64:6b says “All our righteousness are like filthy rags.”  Now that we are saved, we are to follow God’s path for our lives.  John 10:27-28 says “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.”  Just to know that our sins are forgiven and that we are eternally saved (as it says in Ephesians 4:30) should cause us to rejoice!!  Now, it is all about living a life that is pleasing to the Lord (Philippians 2:13) and following the Lord’s path for our lives.

God is my compass and GPS (Global Positioning System).  A compass lets me know where I am.  The GPS not only tells me where I am, but it actually lets me know the best route/path I should take to get to my destination.  Have you ever used your GPS to go somewhere, and you decided to take an alternate route?  Then you were lost, and the GPS recalculated the directions so that you could go back to the original path.  I thank the Lord for recalculating or redirecting paths I have taken in my life!!  How would it be if the Lord never recalculated our path when we messed up or try to do our own thing – not being led by the Holy Spirt?

The following helps us to choose God’s path:  We have to take everything to God in prayer.  Studying, reading, meditating on the Word of God helps us to choose God’s path (II Timothy 2:15)  We have to follow the commands of the Lord.  John 8:12 says “Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” Seeking godly friendships encourages us to make right decisions as we are choosing God’s path.  We have to obey the truth and/or what is right even if it hard/difficult.  If we say/apply “Not as I will, but as You will” (Matthew 26:39, Mark 14:36, Luke 22:42, John 5:30), God wouldn’t have to keep recalculating or redirecting the paths that we take. Help us Lord.  Let us consistently walk in the Spirit as it says in Galatians 5:25.

Prayer:  Dear Heavenly Father:  Thank You for saving me and promising that You will never leave me.  Help me to make right choices as I desire to choose your path for my life.  I want You to be delighted or pleased with the choices I make.  I want to be in the center of Your will – staying close to your path for my life.  All this I pray in Jesus’ name.  Amen.

Amen Sis. Marsha! Thank you Lord for leading me to your path of righteousness. Forgive me Father if I stumble while walking your path. Guide me Lord from the distractions that want to direct me from your path. Please your Holiness help me to beat the busy enemy by being just as busy as him spreading the good news of the Gospel. In Jesus name I'll follow the path that leads me to doing your will, and your work. Praise Him!
