Wait for the Lord
Scripture: Psalms 27:13-14 (CSB) – I am certain that I will see the Lord’s goodness in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord, be strong, and let your heart be courageous. Wait for the Lord.
David was obviously going through a trial, but he was confident that in his life, God would see him through. David knew what it was like to wait for the Lord. He was anointed as king at age 16, but he didn’t really become king until age 30. That was a long time to wait. Between that time, he was chased by King Saul. David had to wait for God for the fulfillment to reign as king. He had to be strong/courageous as he waited for the Lord. After David was king, he was chased by his evil/rebellious son, Absalom. Waiting for the Lord surely isn’t easy. There are times when I have waited on the Lord that I wondered if what I was praying for would come to pass. Have you ever felt that way?
When we are waiting on the Lord, it’s a test or a time of learning. We have to make good use of our waiting time to discover what the Lord could be trying to teach us. While waiting on/for the Lord, we have to stay faithful in the Lord’s work – occupying until He comes. We are to invest our time, talents, treasures and opportunities for the Lord/His Kingdom. Also, we are called to witness (Matthew 28:18, Acts 1:8) to those not saved, and we are to equip/encourage the Body of Christ. I love what the Amplified Version of the Bible says for I Corinthians 15:58 -- Therefore my beloved brethren, be firm (steadfast), immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord (always being superior, excelling, doing more than enough in the service of the Lord, knowing and being continually aware that your labor in the Lord is not futile (it is never wasted or to no purpose). Praying without ceasing is imperative (I Thessalonians 5:17). As we wait on the Lord, our weapon is to read, memorize, meditate on the Word of God – those scriptures relative to what we are waiting on or praying about.
Psalms 25:4-5 – Show me Your ways, O Lord; teach me Your paths.5 Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; on You I wait all the day.
Psalms 31:24 – Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all you who hope in the Lord.
Psalms 33:20-22 – Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield. 21 For our heart shall rejoice in Him, because we have trusted in His holy name. 22 Let Your mercy, O Lord, be upon us, just as we hope in You.
Psalms 37:7a - Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him;
Psalms 37:34a – Wait on the Lord, and keep His way,
Psalms 62:5 – My soul, waits silently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him.
Psalms 130:5-6 - I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His word I do hope. 6 My soul waits for the Lord. More than those who watch for the morning.
Whatever you are praying about or waiting on the Lord for, don’t give up. Rest in the Lord. God has everything in control. He’s a good God!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father: Thank You for being a good God! I trust You with my life and what I am going through right now. Whatever it is that You want me to learn as I am waiting on You, please show me. Help me to never give up or doubt You. I know You have my life in Your hands. All this I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Amen Sis Marsha. Thank you Lord for forcing me to wait when I wanted today's blessings yesterday. Thank you Father for waiting for me to be obedient to you. When God says, "wait", we control only two things: how we wait, and who we become along the way. In Jesus name I wait.
