He Never Sleeps Nor Slumber

Scriptures: Psalm 121: 1-8 - I will lift up my eyes to the hills, from whence come my help. (2) My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth. (v3) He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. (v4) Behold He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. (v5) The LORD is your keeper; The LORD is your shade at your right hand. (v6) The sun will not strike you by day nor the moon by night. (v7) The LORD shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. (v8) The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in. From this time forth and even forevermore.
When I was a child my parents taught us two prayers.
A prayer before we ate our meal, and a bedtime prayer. God is great, God is good, let us thank Him for our food. By His hands we are feed thank you Lord for our daily bread. Amen
Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the LORD my soul to keep. If I die before I wake, I pray the LORD my soul to take. Amen
These two prayers followed me until I became a Christian. Then I was introduced to the LORD’s Prayer and several prayers that actually came from the Bible.
I learned Psalm 121 early in my Christian walk. Every time I read it my faith grows as a result of it.
Like David I can personally lift my eyes to the hills from whence comes my help? It has and will always come from my LORD and Savior Jesus Christ. If He created Heaven and Earth, and created me, surly He can keep me. David said “He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.” Jesus watches over me 24/7. I have nothing to fear, Jesus has me, He has my family and He has those who are His. David said from experience that the “LORD shall preserve you from all evil.” He shall preserve your soul. Saints of the Living GOD, if Jesus is not keeping you from the evil one then who is? He is the one who has His hand upon us. The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in. From this time forth, and even forevermore.
Over the years I acknowledge that His Grace and His Grace alone has kept me in ways that has yet to be revealed to me, if He chooses to reveal it. I can recall looking back over my life and personally know that I am still alive, all because He who keeps me shall neither slumber nor sleep.
Prayer: Eternal God in the name of my King of Glory Jesus I bow. I know that it is no merit of my own that I am being kept by Jesus. His unconditional and committed love for me is so overwhelming. May my love for you be a love of loyalty to serve you.
