Seek the Blesser Before the Blessing

Scripture: John 15: 5 5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
I am blessed and highly favored
Yet, who gets the credit, the blessing or the Savior?
Most of the time, blessings are based around what we receive
The Provider may get a shout out, but the blessing is what we seek
So, our pride goes no further than what we physically have
Attaching favor only to our lifestyles, cars, houses, or lands
Substituting the Lord with conditional prayer requests and demands
Craving what’s in store for us, rather than abiding with His plans
Acknowledging the Lord within our conditions
Giving Him limited services without submission
So, are we seeking the Lord Himself, or just for the blessings He is giving?
Our choice will reflect and persuade how we are ultimately living
The Lord says, if You abide in me, I will abide in you
Taking pleasure in Him will result in bearing His fruit
His fruit is beyond worldly status, success, or becoming richer
He desires disciples who glorify Him, not for things that eventually wither
True blessings reflect salt and light, peace and joy, and grace and mercy
All received with an understanding I am undeserving and unworthy
Again, do you want the blessing or the One who provides the blessing?
Choosing Him will provoke submission, repentance, and confession
If we truly love Him, we will become more devoted and obedient
Our anticipation and expectations will solely honor His allegiance
Therefore, blessings are good, but the Blesser is even better
Seek first the kingdom of God, while taking more pleasure in the Shephard
Prayer: Lord, I’m grateful Your mercy endures forever. Often, I skip you by focusing on the blessing. Forgive me for being anxious. Forgive me for the idols. Thank You for loving me the way do. You are worthy to praise. In the name of Your Son Jesus Christ, Amen!
