Oh! The Blood of Jesus!
Scripture: I Peter 1:19 NKJ - …but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
I heard a preacher say, “the blood of Christ ought to be mentioned by all those who proclaim the Word of God every time they have opportunity and stand before worshippers. That is how important the blood of Christ should be treated. I agree with my whole heart, mind, and soul.
The blood of Jesus is important because of its relationship to life, for blood signifies the supreme offering to God. God’s holiness and justice demands that sin be punished.
The Bible regards blood as the symbol and source of life. (Lev. 17:14), states, “For the life of every creature is its blood.” Its blood is its life.
The blood of Christ has the power to:
1. redeem us. In Christ we have redemption through His blood (Eph. 1:7), “In Him we have forgiveness of our sin (Col. 1:14) . We were once under the rule of the devil, and it took Jesus’ blood to provide redemption. The Father’s redemptive plan worked. We were slaves to sin and Satan, but through Christ’s atoning death, He purchased us from the slave market -- granting us forgiveness of sins and transferring us into His glorious kingdom. The redemptive price was costly (Ps.19:8), and our ransom was paid in full. Only one thing could redeem sinful humanity so that we might live forever…was the precious blood of Jesus Christ.
2. washes away our sins -- present, past and future. We have been cleansed of our sins and stand free and clean in God’s sight. We are forgiven. Our sins which defiled, us are gone. We are no longer corrupt. We stand justified before God.
3. cleanses our guilty conscience. The blood of Jesus Christ is able to cleanse our conscience from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve a true and living God.
4. sanctifies us, gives us peace, and help us to overcome the enemy.
There is wonderous working power in the blood of Jesus Christ. Oh! The blood can never ever loose it’s power. We gain bold access to worship and prayer through the blood.
Prayer: Lord, You have given me life and have sustained me for Your divine purpose. Life is in the blood. For man’s blood can help another man; Yet the blood of Christ is of a universal type- that benefits all mankind. Hallelujah Lord! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
