Alas, a Lily (Part 2)

Scripture:  Psalm 33: 17,18, 22   (NKJV) - A horse is a vain thing for safety; neither shall he deliver any by his great strength. Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear Him, upon them that hope in His mercy... Let Thy mercy, O' Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in Thee.'

Luke 12:27 (Basic English Bible) - Give thought to the flowers: they do not work, they make no thread; and still I say to you, even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these.

As a matter of being, we have the characteristics of Praise, Gratitude, and Worship, which give witness to God. Through a unique relationship with God, it was the Jew, that was to exemplify these characteristics to the world, Jew being derived from the word 'Yehudim', one who gives witness.

When Jesus acknowledged Mary as having chosen better to be attentive to Him, to be at His feet, in contrast with Martha who was caught up with the tasks at hand, we see the valuing of being, the sort of being which is apt to listen, and understand, and receive . We find the receptive being of the flower [the lily], to permit its becoming. It thrives towards its potential, not by doing, but by reliance, where attitude precedes the best becoming. The works to follow will then represent its parental source.

'What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus, answering said THIS IS THE WORK OF GOD, THAT YE BELIEVE ON HIM WHOM HE HATH SENT.'  John 6:28,29

We may find it within our comfort zone to enter life's storms with our sturdiest umbrella, held by our strongest grip, led by our most severe will- when sometimes the need is to listen to what is of principal gain through it all, that His will be done.  It may be necessary to get wet.

The mighty 'horse' we bring may be a vain thing, when the battle is the Lords! The victory to be had, may be 'horse-less'.

'Let Thy mercy, O' Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in Thee.'

Alas, be like the lily.

Prayer:  Let it be Lord Jesus. Let it be. Amen.

Thanks again Father for continuing to provide the anchors of assurance, purpose, faith, and hope, to someone like me who hasn't earned, or deserve your mercy and grace.

Amen, Brother, Mary did, indeed, choose the best part—taking the time to be still in Jesus’ presence.
