I Who Speak to you am HE
Scriptures: John 4:26 - Jesus said to her “I who speak to you am He”
John 8:24 - Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if your do not believe that I am HE, you will die in your sins
Whenever Jesus had an encounter with an individual or individuals HE always spoke with Power and Authority. No one but Jesus, the Living GOD, could speak truth and be accurate without error.
His encounter with the women at the well was by divine appointment. (4:4-29) He needed to go to Samaria. He had an appointment with a certain Samaritan woman. He had a plan where His disciples could not intercept nor interrupt. It was a plan where the Samaritan woman could not ignore.
This woman who lived in bondage to a lifestyle of sin, and because of her racial background was not accepted by the Jews. This woman found herself conversing with a Jewish man and not being afraid. This man Jesus was no ordinary man. Jesus not only questioned her, but HE made reference to her past, her present and her future that she would soon embrace. She believed that HE was a prophet, she believed that He was the Messiah as written in the Old Testament (Isaiah 7:14, 9:6). Jesus who said to her “I who speak to you am HE.
Jesus encounter with several individuals recorded in (John 8:1-24) was also by divine appointment. While at Mount of Olives and teaching in the temple He was interrupted by the scribes and Pharisees. They wanted Him to give His advice on a woman who was caught in adultery. Jesus the living GOD knew their thoughts, their intentions and their motives. When they brought the woman to Him, she found herself facing a man whose compassionate heart was greater than the condemning hearts of the scribes and Pharisees.
The challenge that Jesus gave to them after writing on the ground (v7) ”He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first. The scripture says (v9) Then those who heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the oldest even to the last, and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. This woman who once faced condemnation from her accusers, was now facing complete forgiveness from the Man Jesus the Christ who she called Lord.
In the temple the witness of Jesus and His Authority was evident. He forgave the woman because she believed that He being Lord had the Power and Authority to forgive. He proclaimed to be the Light of the World (v12-21) and was rejected by the unbelieving Pharisees and the Jews. He proclaimed to be the One to bear witness of Himself and His father who sent Him also bears witness of Him, and yet the unbelieving Pharisees and Jews did not believe Him. Because of the evilness of their unbelieving heart Jesus said (v24) “Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am HE, you will die in your sins.
Prayer: Holy, Holy, Holy Eternal GOD in the name of my King of Glory Jesus I bow. I believe that my righteous is as filthy rags. I believe that without the shedding of Christ’s blood there could be remission for my sins. I believe that He is my Savior and Lord. I believe that HE saved me to be used for His Glory.
