The Saint’s Confidence

Scripture: Joshua 1:9 - Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go
Philippians 4:7 - And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 3:20 - God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think.
Hebrews 13:6 - So we say with confidence, The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
Verses such as those above, encourage us that because of God’s characters we can trust Him so much so that we do not have to dread or fear a tomorrow (or any kind of event in our lives). Great confidence in our God should be our goal. We should long to have faith that does not fail. Just as a muscle needs use and exercise to grow, we need to exercise our faith, our confidence in the Lord Jesus with every experience in this life. We can be strong and courageous because God is able. He is the One whom we trust and we can rely/depend upon the Lord Jesus. That He is truth, and reading and studying. His Word is nothing short of an encounter with Him. We can have relentless faith in our God, who is our strength, our strong tower, our shield. We can make our boast in Him; and not grow weary or lose heart in well doing for we know that we shall reap in God’s time (Gal 6:9). We are encouraged by the great cloud of witnesses -- those who have trusted Him in times past (Heb 12:1-2). In Rom 4, Abraham was documented as being fully convinced that what God had promised He was able to perform; and how God considered His faith righteousness. Another witness is Moses (Heb 11:23-29). He by faith trusted God so much that he preferred and chose faith in God and the traditions of his people (who were enslaved) versus embracing Egypt’s false gods and traditions. We are to aspire to be like the Psalmist who declared in Psalm 20:7: some trust in chariots and some in horses but we trust in the Name of the Lord our God. Today, we praise God for the truth of His Word and for those who have been documented as living by faith, believing that God is who He says He is and He will never fail.
Prayer: Lord, we bless You for Your deliverance seen and read. We thank You for You continue to prove Yourself to be trustworthy and a way maker. We see Hebrews 11 which summarizes many witnesses that have trusted You. And we can recall our own experiences where You were right there. We are convinced You will never leave us, and we say thank You, Oh Lord! In Jesus’ Name-Amen.
