Divine Perception

Scripture:  2 Corinthians 3:18 HCSB -  “We all, with unveiled faces, are looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord and are  being transformed into the same image from glory to glory; this is from the Lord who is the Spirit.”

A Brandon Heath song from a few years back was titled “Give Me Your Eyes (so I can see).”  Those simple lyrics present a worthy goal for every soul who believes on Christ.  We should desire to see as God sees; it would eliminate so much unnecessary fretting.  It would gradually erode much of our self-centeredness.  It would erode a spirit that’s quick to criticize others; it would eliminate bitterness over wrongs or offenses done against us—real or imagined-- if we could see as God sees!  We know  He’s omniscient; I’m not talking about a desire to be as God—that leaven-like half-truth tossed at Eve by the enemy in the Garden (Gen. 3:4, 5)—or to be omnipotent as God is—but to have a perspective on life, a perspective on others and on ourselves that is consistently  anchored in and obedient to the truth, as God presents it in His word! (Philippians 2:3; Micah 6:8)

Give me Your eyes, Lord,  that I can see; give me Your love for humanity, so that I can consistently avoid what I’ve termed  “Jonah Syndrome”—seeing much of the world as Jonah did—as being like the Ninevites  in their callousness toward the gospel.  Yielding to God’s perception of things that pass away, I can forever renounce the “Eve Complex,” occasionally battling a spirit of discontentment, while failing to truly appreciate a multitude of blessings already bestowed!  Give me Your eyes so I can see, so that I can wait upon and trust in You, with patience, for the manifestation of every spiritual and temporal blessing that You have for me—that I can wait, being a still object of Your love, TOTALLY content on the altar of Your transformation process!  Lord, give me Your eyes, that I can see.

Prayer:   Dear Abba, help each of us who name the name of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior to daily pursue a greater surrender of our heart, mind, and soul to You.  In Jesus’ precious name, we thank You; amen!
