Keeping Our Eyes on the Prize
Scripture: Hebrews 12:1-2 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Whether faithful or faithless, it declares whom I’m appeasing
My lifestyle is justified by glancing at problems, yet staring at Jesus
I am surrounded by trouble
Many are designed for me to stumble
The forces of evil and the evil one are relentless
His commitment to entangle and ensnare me is endless
This race requires divine assurance and endurance
I can’t afford rest stops that persuade worldly influences
My obstacles in this race are set for testing me
The Lord allows the trials to get the best of me
This reveals the best of me will never be enough or efficient
The grace given by the Author and Finisher of my faith is sufficient
However, challenges, issues, and circumstances are real
Seeing these trials persist will cause unavoidable feelings
Therefore, my Lord sympathizes when trouble arise
He wants us to depend on Him only, by keeping our eyes on The Prize
Prayer: Lord, I understand that keeping my faith is a marathon. This spiritual race requires divine focus. I need You! Lord, thank You for being faithful to me. Thank You for providing all that I need. Forgive me for the times I look back or to the sides and lose focus. I will continue to seek You as the apple of my eye. I love You for who You are. In the name of Jesus!
