Grow Where You’re Planted

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 12:26 - And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.

Here is an opportunity with a double edge sword
One end says suffer, and the other end says rejoice

I’m a servant of the Lord as a called candidate
Yet, I flee when I’m reminded of failures and mistakes

As the body of Christ, we all experience triumph and defeat
Imagine us all sharing the same allegiance as his elected elite

This leaves little room for negativity or judgement
Growing together, while genuinely caring for one another

It’s the Lord’s choice of the assignment I am handed
I will finish strong, So I shall grow, where I’m planted

We spend a lot of time instructing others on what’s expected
Yet, when it comes to the Lord’s desires, he is often denied and rejected

Yet, we respond as the way to holiness is complex
Allowing our souls to conform in a way of wickedness

Disregarding the fact that we were given a new heart
Knowingly, He provides what’s required, to finish what was started

Again, here is the fork in the road, where will I be led
Great options, but my calling may be to stay and grow, instead

It’s the Lord’s choice of the assignment I am handed
I will finish strong, So I shall grow, where I’m planted

To be honest, I have drifted away from the Lord for some time now
Where I was planted did not appear to be productive or fertile ground

So, I chose to avoid my identity in Christ and the church
Accepting, these issues aren’t fixable from the damages and hurts

However, I was convicted into submission
His grace afforded me the opportunity of confession and repentance

Church would be great if it weren’t for the imperfect people in it
Yet, possible testimonies through Christ can restore the conditions

Therefore!
It’s the Lord’s choice of the assignment I am handed
I will finish strong, So I shall grow, where I’m planted

Prayer:  Lord, there have been times where the grass appears greener on the other side. Our options for a better situation come and go. Yet, why don’t we rely on the Holy Spirit to clearly inform us where to stay and grow.  Forgive me Father! Let the Holy Spirit persuade me where I need to be for the Lord services. Galatians 6:9 says And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Lord, let me not stand in the way of possible testimonies of Your grace. I ask this in the name of Jesus, Amen!

Amen Bro. Glenny, thank you for this encouragement to "wait on the Lord and be of good courage".

Amen, Bro. Glenny! Ofttimes our Lord’s best blessings cannot be received unless we go through the “trial of waiting.” TLB note on Ps. 40:1-4

Man's mind plans his way, but the Lord directs His steps.
