Remembering the Times

Scripture:  Hebrews 10:32-39 But recall the former days in which, after you were illuminated, you endured a great struggle with sufferings: 33 partly while you were made a spectacle both by reproaches and tribulations, and partly while you became companions of those who were so treated; 34 for you had compassion on me in my chains, and joyfully accepted the plundering of your goods, knowing that you have a better and an enduring possession for yourselves in heaven. 35 Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. 36 For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise: 37 “For yet a little while, And He who is coming will come and will not tarry. 38 Now the just shall live by faith; But if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him.” 39 But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.

The Lord has a spiritual means to grow me up
Each trial has a purpose beyond good or bad luck

So, I’m in prayer for the circumstances I’m facing
No divine trial or suffering goes useless or wasted

Therefore, I am remembering the times
Grateful for His goodness that I’m able to rewind

Recalling the past of His grace and mercy
Chance after chance despite being unworthy

Seasons of challenges, but delivered by design
References that are marked and planted in my mind

Boldly, I can go to the throne of grace for help
Secured by past experiences to anchor myself

His faithfulness carried me, I am grateful and joyful
Now, I pray with expectations, even for things abnormal

I refuse to waste the memories that help me today
I view the Lord and His power in a totally new way

Now, my confidence in Him is fresh based on the past
It’s where my courage and hope meet, for the will to last

So, I am holding on to the past with endearment
It encourages fortitude, boldness, and commitment

It keeps me tied to Christ, my savior and Lord
It keeps me tied to hope, and the great reward

It’s not what I can get from Him that grants His deity, exclusively
It’s experiencing Him, Himself, directly and personally

Prayer:  There are so many things I can recall that made an impact on my faith today. Your divine resume is impeccable. I can always reach back to revisit how You made a way out of no way. You are worthy to be praised. I am encouraged in the name of Jesus, Amen!
