Radical Obedience

Scripture:  Matthew 7:24-28 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. 26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.” 28 And so it was, when Jesus had ended these sayings, that the people were astonished at His teaching,

It’s easy to apply obedience in areas that’s comfortable
It’s uneasy to apply obedience to where I truly struggle

Obedience must be radical for conditions that are demanding
His challenge is, if you love Me, keep My commandments

Whether I like it or not, His expectations are clear
So, I must be slow to speak, slow to anger, but quick to hear

So, the question is, what am I standing on
Is the foundation of my faith weak or strong?

The wise build on the Rock, the foolish build on sand
Once the winds and storms come, my faith must withstand?

Radical obedience understands His plans as followed
Working from the inside out to mirror a Christ-like model

Once the rain comes, there is little time for unstable conditions
So, obedience must already be in place when trials are considered

Certainly, we all know, when it rains, it pours
Once His test come, obedience assures I will endure

So, I am aiming to please the Lord with a radical response
Purposing to obey His Word by going above and beyond

When tithes are due, if you love Me, obey Me
When my marriage is at risk, if you love Me, obey Me

When ministry calls, if you love Me, obey Me
Choosing to forgive, if you love Me, obey Me

I am clear, radical obedience prepares me for a spiritual expansion
As a result, The Lord grants wisdom, revelation, and understanding

Prayer:  I desire divine revelation and understanding. Therefore, Lord, I must do what You say. The more I decrease, the more You increase in my matters. I pray for a burning desire to please You, Lord. Please, continue to fix my focus, redirect my ways, and consume my heart and mind. Thank You for having mercy upon me Father. I am praying this in the matchless name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
