Wisdom for Today

Since there is a fixed “season” in God’s purposes, there is a lawful “time” for
implementing our purposes. We can accomplish more in one hour with God than one lifetime without Him, because with God all things are possible. God approves the bestowal of blessings for His glory, but He condemns the abuse of them if they are the chief ends of this life. Since God has given us some of the possessions that we crave; we have achieved some successes, and even been used by God with our spiritual gifts in a mighty way.  Life is not a dreary existence.

 When the desire for possessions or success is misguided or excessive, a spiritual problem exists. Consequently, possession control becomes absolutely necessary. Biblical principles are given to help us control the emotions or emotions will control us. Therefore, wisdom becomes the principle thing. Proverbs 2:10-11 says that when wisdom enters your heart and knowledge is pleasant to your soul, then discretion will preserve you and understanding will keep you.
Sometimes, we don’t want to follow biblical instructions. Our emotions say “I don’t want wisdom or understanding! I would rather SCREAM!!!!” One minute it’s, “Lord, rescue me from this quarantine – I want my freedom” and the next minute it’s “I better be careful and not complain like the Israelites”. One minute I’m laughing at the funny comments made by my granddaughter and the next minute I realize that I can’t even hug her right now. It is amazing how our spectrum of emotions can easily deplete our physical and spiritual energy supply. If we feel “dog tired” at night, maybe it’s because we “growled” or “complained” throughout the day! God’s purposes will always be accomplished whether we submit or not, because the work He began in us will be completed for His glory and our good.

Prayer: Lord, please help and forgive me when I yield to the flesh and allow my emotions to take control.  At this season because I am exactly where You have assigned me to be, give me  wisdom and understanding to follow Your principles for Your glory.
