God Does Not Like Ugly
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:17 - Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
It is often said that “God Doesn’t Like Ugly”
Well, if that was true, He really doesn’t love me
The day I accepted Him, I was in a hideous state
Baffled, a Holy God would consider me to take
For years, my external presentation covered the marks
However, my internal condition was ugly and torn apart
While looking the part, my heart needed a divine tailor
Yet, I was a public success, but certainly a private failure
Cleverly, I was able to hide my demise
But, on one dark day, The Son begin to rise
I was exposed and broken without an escape or remedy
I’ve been here before, but this time it was the end of me
I surrendered my life for a spiritual examination
Realizing I am a sinner at the beginning of a transformation
For the first time I saw ugliness, yet, the Lord said perfect
Grace took my place, despite, I was clearly unworthy
A lifestyle of lust, fornication, hatred, and selfishness
Then, there was idolatry, adultery, dissension, and drunkenness
Yet, the Lord promised to make me new in 2nd Corinthians 5:17
Transforming an ugly wretch like me, eventually made clean
Therefore, I am a new creation, yet, still in old skin
Reconciled as His child, but always seen as beautiful to Him
Prayer: I glance back to see Your grace all over my face. The external beauty perceived by man was truly ugly. The beauty You saw in me from the inside out is what really matters. Now, I can say, I am wonderfully made. Thank You, Jesus! I didn’t believe the possibility of a transformation until I trusted You through faith. The scripture says everything is made beautiful in its time.
