Jehovah Rapha – The God Who Heals
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 4:17 - For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.
My journey during my pain and suffering after back surgery. In November of 2018 I turned 70 years old. The next year I started having back problems. It all started in January and continued until August 2019. I prayed and prayed to the Lord, why me Lord, why me? I was taking care of three members of my family and didn’t have time to be sick. Okay, I soon realized what I was saying and repented, why not me? I Peter 4:12-16. “Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; 13 but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy…”
In Jeremiah 29:11, God says “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
We all experience pain and suffering sometimes in our lives. God has a journey we all must travel -- whether emotional or physical. For there is a purpose in it all. We can always know that He said in Hebrews 13:5(b) For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” We suffer for God’s glory.
While going through my pain and suffering, I realized that my suffering can never be compared to my Lord’s suffering while He hung on the cross at Calvary for my sins and yours. I said to myself, I won’t complain. I did ask the Lord to show me what can I do while I’m recovering. There is absolutely a lot to do. I’m doing a lot right now. This COVID-19 Virus has really given me lots of time to do a lot of writing. Our God is definitely my healer. I know that my sickness was for His glory.
Prayer: Dear Father, I do praise and thank You for all that we go through for it is all for Your glory. May we never forget. I give You all the glory, honor, and praise. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
