You Don’t Walk Alone

Scriptures: (I Tim. 6:14c, 15, 16)…until our Lord Jesus Christ’s appearing, which he will manifest in His own time, He who is the blameless and only Potentate (Sovereign), the King of Kings and Lord of lords, who has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has ever seen be honor and everlasting power. Amen.

A few days ago, my husband and I traveled by car to southern Virginia. Along the way we experienced many unexpected things to our vehicle. Nothing immediately brought us comfort. Yet , knowing that God is sovereign and just, and  studying the sovereignty of God during bible study brought peace in the midst of trouble. This was sort of a timely test. The Lord brought rain and sunshine, clouds and a missed appointment. He put us in the path of many peoples. Only the ones He sent to us showed up with a pleasant smile and acknowledged  up front that they were short on knowledge as to our need. Through the strength and wisdom of God…. those men were so helpful without a cost to us monetarily. We went on roads never traveled before, only met middle-aged men. There was an opportunity to be light, to be the salt of the earth, to share Christ, to be open to receive  sovereign- Christ like favor through strangers. We were more than satisfied with the outcome. Every detail was orchestrated by the sovereignty of the Lord. We will never forget the names Dave and Wade.

Trusting in God ‘s sovereignty is knowing that His good purpose will be achieved. Man cannot hinder God’s plan. All things will be done out of His good will towards His Children. “He is causing everything to work together ( no matter how difficult/long) for the good of those who love God and are called accord- ing to His purpose (Rom. 8:28). Everything that particular day during our travel, worked out according to His plan” (Eph. 1:11).  It may mean that we suffer, become distressed, experience difficulty and even have doors shut. Never-the-less; God’s plan is still sovereign. When things abruptly derail, when trials and tribulations come, When door after door is shut in career planning or employment; remember, God is Sovereign (I Tim. 6:15).
Prayer: Lord, I have had many sleepless nights over disrupted plans, human counsel/decision and even medical test results. Help me to remember when I hit rock bottom, God is Sovereign. For according to Your plan, You never cease to work thing out for my good and for Your glory. In Christ. Amen
