Obedience

Scripture: Ephesians 6:1 NKJV - Children obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
John 14:24-25 - Jesus replied, Anyone who loves me will obey my teachings. My Father will love them, and We will come to them and make Our home with them. 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teachings. These words you hear are not My own; they belong to the Father who sent Me. NIV
What does obedience mean? In simple terms, obedience is compliance with an order, request, law or submission to another’s authority. “And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to death even the death on the cross.
Obedience is a sure sign of a Christian’s love for the Lord. In Deut. 11:26-28, “Obey and you will be blessed; disobey and you will be cursed” We also learn that our Lord Jesus Christ said “believers are called to a life of obedience.” It should become a habit to us in our homes, workplaces, church, and our communities in which we live. He does reward and bless us for our obedience. (Genesis 22:18)
Every year I make it my aim to be obedient. I fail many times. Half obedience is sin. King Saul found that out when he disobeyed God. (I Sam. 15) The Lord told Samuel to tell King Saul to strike Amalek and utterly destroy all that he had…” King Saul lost his kingdom for being half obedient.
I want to be obedient to the Lord in my daily walk. We have to be careful that we obey. There are consequences for everything we do. When you disobey the law, you must pay the consequences. When you disobey God, you must pay the consequences.
Prayer: Dear Father, before you take us home, help us to live in obedience to You so that we can be blessed and give glory to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen
