The Attitude God Is Looking For

2 Chronicles 7:12-15 If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I (GOD) will hear from heaven and forgive their sin and heal their land.

The defining question for people who say they are God’s people is where is God’s position, place and priority in our lives?  What is true is not what other people see or say about us, nor is the truth what I say about myself, but the truth is what God sees and says about my heart.  The condition of our hearts will ultimately guide our actions.  Are you honest with yourself about your own heart?  If our hearts are not right in our response toward God, it surely will not be genuinely right toward other people.  Our present verse of meditation reminds us that what we can expect to receive from God is directly related to the true attitude of our hearts toward Him.

Have you considered that while you are waiting for God’s answers, the real issue is God is waiting for your repentant change of heart?  It could be the difference in the following areas:
  • When I need an answer from God
  • When I need a breakthrough in my situation
  • When I need deliverance from my consequences from sin
  • When I need mercy in my chastening
  • When I need healing in any area that is broken in my life

The heart of our Heavenly Father toward His people is that He desires to flood our lives with His Greatness, and His Goodness that will reveal to us and through us His Glory.  The blocks that keep us from what He desires to do are not the things and people around us, but the heart sin that is in us.  “If” is also “When” my people, who have a true relationship with me present to me the heart I expect, they will hear from Me.  It is the iniquity of our hearts that we often are not honest with ourselves about, because we don’t want to admit we are not right with God.  If I regard iniquity in my heart, God will not hear me (Psalm 66;18).

Prayer: O God my Father, please forgive my resistance and dishonesty of heart.  Please help me to see myself according to truth that I may walk in the heart condition that brings your favor to my life for your Glory, in Jesus Name, Amen.
