Wanted: Servants with Zeal!
Scripture: Romans 12:11 (NIV) - Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.
Have you been persuaded that we actually offer up loving praises to God when we’re faithful in our ministerial duties, as opposed to rendering a kind of slip-shod service when our zeal is lagging? Aren’t we who rest in the security of Christ for eternal salvation made by and for our God? One of the ways that we maintain our fervency of love for Him is by demonstrating faithfulness in every assignment, reckoning each ministerial commitment as a true sacrifice of praise to our Savior. In the words of the Spirit, spoken through King David in 2 Samuel 24:24, “…nor will I offer burnt offerings to the Lord my God with that which costs me nothing.”
As someone has stated, ‘God is not looking for perfect people; He is however seeking those who will be devoted (i.e., loyal) to Him.’ (1 Samuel 26:23). Loyalty to God is paramount in His heart! According to: 2 Chron. 16:9, His eyes run to and fro throughout the earth to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him. Many other verses attest to the high premium our Lord puts on devotedness to Him.(Psalm 12:1; Prov. 20:6)
If those words don’t persuade you, Proverbs 28:20 says, “A faithful man will abound with blessings.” When we are faithful in obeying God and ministering in His name, He promises to bless us in more ways than we can imagine! How’s that for incentive to radically improve our “ministry faithfulness quotient?!”
Prayer: O, faithful Father, thank You for Your continued reminders that we are saved by Your magnificent grace and for Your exquisite delight! Stir up Your people to, out of fervent love and devotion to You, Lord, shore up their commitment to offering up faithful, reliable service in Your name! We long to hear You say, “Well done, good and faithful servant…” In Jesus’ blessed name, Amen!
