Goldilocks

SCRIPTURE: “And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12 But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, 13 from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. 14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.” Hebrews 10:11-14
In the story Goldilocks and the Three Bears, written by Robert Southey, Goldilocks wanted her food, her chair, and bed just right and when it wasn’t just right, she complained, “this porridge is too hot, this bed is too hard, this chair is too tall.” The crux of the story is the items were not hers but that did not stop her from complaining or wanting something different/better.

Some believers are like that about Christ, He gave us a gift but the parts we don’t understand or like or agree with we complain about or want to change. Sometimes, believers take parts of different religions and try to make one that is just right for their style of sin or their personal needs. They try to fit Christ in the perfect personal box. The reality is Christ cannot fit in a box and everything about Him and the gift of salvation is just right.

Consider these things
1. He loves us: “There is no greater love than a man lay down His life for His friends” (John
15:13).
2. He prays for us: “He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them” (Hebrews 7:25). Even when we hurt Him, He prays for us: “Father forgive them, for they know not what they do” (Luke 23:34).
3. He is the perfect example: “For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Therefore, let
us come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help
in time of need” (Hebrews 4:15-16).
4. He died for our sins: “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we
were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

The gift of salvation is just right. It saves us, it changes us, it redeems us, and it seals us. It is
not too hot or cold, it is not too hard or soft, it is not too big or too small, it is just right.

PRAYER: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for giving us the perfect gift. Forgive us Lord, for not appreciating the gift. Forgive us for rejecting the gift, for abusing the gift and taking its worth for granted. Lord, Your grace and mercy are more than we deserve yet You give it anyway. Help us Father to appreciate the perfect gift of Your salvation. In Jesus name, Amen.

Amen. Lord in the midst of such a great cloud of witnesses guide our sympathies rightward, that we not waiver in grateful welldoing. Let us not be 'unbearable' where the choice to love is clear. ??
