Stewards of Our Marriage

SCRIPTURE: "Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. 24 Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything. 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, 26 that He might [a]sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish." Ephesians 5:22-33
We are stewards of our marriage as a lifelong covenant,
Yet our identity isn’t rooted in the status or image of it.

We don’t worship the relationship, we worship Christ,
He is the third person involved who dictates our lives.

Now, the Holy Spirit will have the first and last say, in addition to the Bible,
Our marriage will not rely on the past, trauma, triggers, or mere survival.

We’ve repented from our history, so our home is governed with godly order,
We refuse to tolerate chaos and dysfunction just because it’s familiar.

Our prayer is to protect what God has built,
We are a husband and wife who are Spirit-filled.

As the husband, I will lay down my pride for my bride,
As the wife, she will no longer speak from fear, but from her Spirit inside.

We don’t pray against one another, but we pray with each other,
Fighting against spiritual opposition, uniting as lifelong partners.

We refuse to react from the flesh through codependence or blame shifting,
We move out of the way and cast our cares upon Christ while prayers are lifted.

No longer do we seek the natural to resolve expected problems,
No longer do we seek control outside of the Lord to solve them.

As stewards of marriage, there is patience between a wife and a husband,
If the Lord isn’t done with us, why should we be done with each other?

PRAYER: Be the third person in our marriage, Father. Continue to provide what’s needed for us to be blessed stewards of our marriages. In the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ!

Amen. A tall order, but where we can't, God can! As Jabez might say '...Lord, enlarge our territory...' Abide, in grace, all to His glory, and rejoice in that precious stewardship calling, with a 'one another' mindset!
