The Devil Subtly Rocks Me to Sleep
SCRIPTURE: “Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. 5 Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously”? 6 But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom.” James 4:4-9

I’ve allowed my liberties to get the best of me,
Evil and worldly affairs have become a friend of me.
Overtime I have drifted further away from my Lord,
Pollutions of the world have occupied unattended voids.
Busy, yet unguarded as I travel daily through life,
Ignoring my convictions, not recognizing what’s right.
Prioritizing everything else other than my calling,
At the edge with open sin, unintentionally falling.
Steadily I was unreadily, conforming to what the world has to offer,
Risking losing my soul for the gain of worldly profit, fame, or power.
Certainly, my faith is secure, but my walk has chosen another route,
The Lord is my Shepherd, yet I have one foot in and one foot out.
The world became increasingly more attractive and appealing,
No longer inspired by God’s truth, but driven by pleasures and feelings.
The nudge at my heart is no longer responding to the Holy Spirit,
I am consumed with worldly affairs, and I just couldn’t hear Him,
The Lord desires a Christian that’s all in, not lukewarm,
Satan’s subtle and patient pursuit has led me to conform.
In fact, my intentions were to please and reason with people rather than the Lord,
Comfortable with worldly settings and ungodly environments by choice.
It was nothing but God’s grace that kept me protected and safe,
Walking in the flesh rather than the Spirit is a dangerous place.
Certainly, I didn’t want my testimony to be a worldly Christian,
Considering being referred to as a heavenly devil is no different.
Before I knew it, I was headed to destruction and defeat,
Once again, the devil was subtly rocking me to sleep.
So, I’m grateful that the Lord’s grace allows me to turn back to Him,
To confess, repent, and ask for forgiveness despite my wrong or sin.
Therefore, I can’t be friends with the world while being friends with Jesus,
Darkness and light can’t exist, so my relationship with Christ carries more allegiance.
Now, my walk is headed to building a Kingdom agenda for Christ’s sake,
The devil rocked me to sleep for a season, so now I am spiritually awakened.
A heavenly alarm clock awakens and alerts me to submit myself to the Lord,
Resisting the devil will cause him to flee, while destruction and defeat will be avoided.
I drew nearer to Him, so He drew nearer to me,
He provided a Helper to make sure I wouldn’t fall asleep.
Giving the hope that He can transform me from being double minded,
Cleansing my hands and purifying my heart to address being blinded.
Meanwhile, God’s grace will teach me, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts,
For He who is in me is greater than he who is in the world, in God we trust.
Therefore, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age,
Falling asleep is not an option, as long as the Holy Spirit is there for my aid.
PRAYER: Thank You for Your grace that teaches us, molds us, and gives us hope. You are our Protector and Provider when facing evil, the evil one, opposition, enemies, and even ourselves. You are worthy of praise! In the matchless name of Jesus! Amen.

Amen brother Glenny!
Traveling and breathing in, we tarry carrying weight; uncovering and discovering just how His grace is great. May reach and speech give honor to our only holy King, the Lord of Lords, Him Jesus Christ, before whom we all sing! O raise this thought as precious, that His mercy grants these days, upon the which we raise our hopes to transform unto praise, to let all merit rest upon 'the Rock' that Jesus is, that any passersby would see He's mine, and I am His!
