Exercising My Faith

SCRIPTURE: “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6
A new year to do some new things – YES. A new plan to get this body in better shape – a DEFINITE YES. But have you thought about the spiritual exercise of the heart – Well? Faith is idle when circumstances are right, but it is only when they are adverse is one’s faith in God exercised. Faith, like a muscle, grows strong and supple with exercise. It is not believing that God can, but believing that God will!

Faith is the Greek word – pistis – which is belief, trust; a firm persuasion. It is a belief or conviction based on confidence in God’s promises. Hebrews 11:1 says “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Also Hebrews 11:6 says “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek HIM.”

We see nothing when times of great testing come by failing to remember the many times the Lord has supplied our needs or delivered us at the 12th hour! We see nothing when our blinded faith fails to recognize the benefit of the closed doors! We see nothing when God changes our circumstances to bring healing, but we want things to stay the same.
We see the problem, but God sees the solution; we see the barriers, but God sees the open door; we see the giants, but God sees grasshoppers; we see “now”, but God sees everything in the eternal – yesterday, today and tomorrow.

PRAYER: Precious Lord, as we begin a new season of time may our hearts desire be to know and experience You no matter what the needed exercise of the heart is to be. May You perfect that which concerns You.
